You must be familiar with the phrase ‘change is the only constant,’ but does change always mean growth? Maybe not

A recent poll of 90 people on personal development showed that 96% of them failed to complete their personal growth goals. This is an alarming rate and says a lot about how many people will invest in their personal growth.

In today’s time, learning is ongoing, and you can always work on yourself. But knowing that it’s time to do that and take out time for yourself is difficult. You’re constantly running in a race to achieve your professional goals, that you lose track of your personal goals, and thus, growth becomes stagnant.

The thing with personal growth is that it’s either ‘Now or Never.’

This is because you can take out all the time in the world for other things, but when it comes to listening to yourself and doing things for yourself, you hesitate because you don’t have ‘the time.’

But you need to make time for yourself because your personal growth is not a choice but a need!

Some common statements a person who’s high on personal growth will say are:

  • I can speak up confidently now.
  • I can make a decision and act on it.
  • I don’t hesitate before putting forward my opinion.
  • I care less about other people’s opinions and more about mine.
  • I find it easy to get along with people now.

If you’re struggling to say any of these statements and find it difficult to be confident in your skin, it’s time to accelerate your personal growth, and we have 6 ways in which you can start doing it today!

  • Gain clarity about your goals
  • Keep up with consistency and acknowledge your changes
  • Don’t become a growth junkie
  • Keep measuring and assessing your growth
  • Be part of a community
  • Invest in a coach

1. Gain clarity about your goals

set a personal development goal

Imagine life with absolute clarity and a driven mindset towards achieving your goal. This comes from a space of less stress and worries where you can focus on achieving your goals.

But often, it becomes difficult to gain clarity when you’re overwhelmed with responsibilities and distractions.

So what should you do?

  • Maintain a growth book, write down your passion statements which relate to your goals
  • Do one thing at a time
  • Create an environment without distractions where you can slowly and steadily work towards achieving your goals
  • When you’re clear about your goals, you get a sense of purpose and something to look forward to every morning.

2. Improve your consistency to consistently improve yourself

improve yourself consistently

Once you commit to your personal growth and be consistent with your actions towards achieving it, nothing can stop you.

While you’re moving forward, you will experience changes in your behaviour, routine, and mood- all of which should be acknowledged than being ignored, because if you don’t embrace your journey, you won’t be able to truly move forward.

So, how can you do this?

  • Assign a timeline to each task and include it in your daily routine
  • Make it a habit to do those actions first thing in the morning
  • Reflect on your changes every night before you go to sleep

You could be outrageously consistent, but if you don’t embrace your journey, it won’t make a difference. Let the two go hand in hand and enjoy the process because this one is for you!

3. Don’t become a growth junkie

dont become a growth junkie

One mistake many people make in their journey towards personal growth is becoming addicted to growth. This means going after anything which promises growth- books, webinars, courses, and workshops.

You need to understand that adopting every possible way or anything anyone promises in the name of growth and transformation is not correct

Even if you’re attending a personal growth webinar, there are some things that you should see before enrolling in it, because consuming a lot of information results in retaining none. And if you’re not motivated to take action after attending those ‘webinars.’ you will not grow.

Next time, when you come across a course, webinar, or workshop, ask yourself:

  • Is this going to help me?
  • Is the mentor experienced enough?
  • Is the mentor giving me something valuable in return for the time and money?
  • Is the mode of learning they are using for the workshop viable for a learning experience?
  • What will I get out of it?

If any of these answers don’t come under ‘personal growth and consistency, say NO to it. Nothing comes out from being a growth junkie, focus your resources in the right direction.’
